Tongin Market (통인 시장)

Salam, Hi and Annyeong!.

Another class trip and this time we went to Tongin Market (통인 시장). This market is famous with Dosirak Cafe (도시락 카페). Dosirak means bento/bekal/lunch box. Hah gitu. If I'm not mistaken, Running Man did film one of their episode here so... I was so excited upon reaching the place. Wohoo!

Tongin Market is close with the Blue House (청와대), The President House. We went to Blue House first as our first pit stop and make a tour around that area. And there's a lot of Chinese tourist! Our Chinese classmates are not that impressed with the amounts of their 'relatives'.ok no,just kidding. And handsome and pretty police are everywhere. Its Blue House, of course it needs a really tight security. But uh, abe Korea in police uniform is so handsome. 

Okay so basically, in front of Blue House there's another building which is the Exhibition Hall for the tourist. There's a lot of things and mostly Historical things from previous ages, prime minister and until current Prime Minister. But since we already aiming for food, we didnt take too much attention in the Exhibition Hall. Everybody was so hungry and we off to Tongin Market after about 45 minute spend sometime at Blue House. 

From Blue House to Tongin Market it took about 15 minute by walk. Oh, we took bus from Kookmin University to Blue House. Bus 7211. But of course you can take a subway. From Gyeongbokgung Station (Seoul Subway Line 3,Orange Color) take exit 2 and continue straight for about 700m. The market will be on your left. So what so special about this Tongin Market? What come into your mind when you heard bout market? YES FOODS!. Dosirak Cafe is open from 11a.m- 4.00 p.m only. 

With 5,000 won, you will get a food tray and tradition coin. And the coin is 500Won each. Along the market there will be lots of food. LOTS OF FOOOD,so heaven~. You only can use the coin where there's Dosirak Cafe sign is stated. And one food cost only bout 1-2 coins. So,can you imagine how many foods you can have with 5,000 won? MANY FOODS. And for Muslims, you need to choose the foods wisely. Ask the ajumma how it makes, does it have meat or not?. Before I choose the foods, I usually go to stall that don't sell any meat. So the kitchen utensils are safe from any Meat or Pork. Tteokbokki (떡볶이) is the safest food. And I looove tteokbokki. Odeng (오뎅) is also safe to eat as it is only fish cake but it is no harm for you to ask how the soup was made from. Ahjummas and Ahjusshi here are so kind. They answered my questions patiently though I asked for many times.

Theme Park :Lotte World [Part 2]

The second part of Lotte World post. Dont worry,this is full of pictures.

and that's only half of my classmates. The boys are busy with other things, except Go Cham, he looks taking picture too. One of the funny guy in class.

And yeaah, not much of scenery pictures. Just picture full of me. Because I usually remember memories in my mind. So, I dont want to share with other. HA HA HA HA. I'll try to snap pictures of scenery for the whole 1 year. I cannot promise though. 

Theme Park : Lotte World [Part 1]

Salam, Hi and Annyeong.

Last Thursday (10 July 2014). The whole Korean Language Students from Juniors to Seniors went to Lotte World for their "One Day Out" program. And it was so fun fun fun!. All of us went there only by subway. For Level 1 [ 1 금] students, all of us are required to assemble at Gireum Station. Gireum Station is the closest station from Kookmin University, so all of us need to take bus from Kookmin and then take off at Gireum Station. 

At 9.15 a.m we continue our journey with subway from 기름역(4호) [Gireum Station,Line 4,Blue Line] and transfer to another subway 동대문역사문회공원 (2호) [Dongdaemun History & Culture Park ,Line 2, Green Line] and take off at 잠실역 [Jamsil Station]. It tooks about 30-45 minutes from Gireum Station. And along the journey, my class, 1A, stayed and moved together as 1. When all of us always keep each other close, I know that I will grow some love toward them.

About 10 a.m, we arrived Jamsil Station and make our speedy move to Lotte World. The happiest among 12 students in my class would be me and Takara. YES, even though we are the oldest, we were the happiest when we finally reached Lotte World. The minute we enter Lotte World, we ride..oke, I forgot the name and also to take pictures of the rides there. Totally fool of me. Too excited with the rides make me forgot to take pictures there. 

So, the first ride we rode was chosen by our Mrs. Gyeong Jin. And uuhh, she totally looks like one of us with her fashion that day. And with her excitement to ride all of the rides. The funny part start here. I sat at middle between Mong Jong and Ja Wook and Takara sat next to Ja Wook. The moment the rides start moving at a slow pace, they already start screaming. And of course it getting stronger when the rides is spinning and moving faster. And I...cant even screaming because I'm too busy laughing at them. /kahkahkahkah/. They are so funny yet so cute too. Too afraid but want to ride. Cute fellas.

Then we take another rides with more screaming and laughing. But damn, it is packed with people!. Some rides took 70 minutes of waiting time! GEESH. Not fun man. I only rides mayb 5-6 rides indoor and outdoor. Since we were short of time, we didnt able to ride all. Too bad. Because we only need to pay 3,000 won, and the rest the school paid for us. Because the school loves us. Huihuihui. 

And since it is Ramadhan, can't help but I'm so thirsty. With all the screaming, the hot weather. Obstacle? This obstacle can't beat the obstacle that people in Gaza needs to face during this Ramadhan. May Allah protect and give strength to brothers, sisters,baby, families, and the army to defends them self and Gaza.

Back to Lotte World, one thing that make me a bit frustrated. They didn't prepare a prayer room. At Everland, there is prayer room prepared for Muslim. Although it is a bit small, but the place is acceptable as it is also clean and far from the screaming rides. So, I tried my best to find a perfect place which is quiet and clean. And with the help from Allah, I found a perfect place to perform my prayer at 4th Floor. The floor is so called as resting place. But I went inside to a hall which is actually only for crews. Again no picture. My bad. It is close to Toilet, and the doors are green color. Supposed no one can enter the hall, but with the braveness that Allah gave me at that time, I entered and perform my prayer there.

And yes, with the help from Allah again, only few people was seen to be entering the room. Only 2 crews perhaps but they didn't said anything nor do they chase me. My heart was not at ease at all before perform the pray as I'm quite nervous about the location to pray. But, I know Allah will never let His servant alone. I know He is besides me wherever I go. Alhamdulillah.

At 3.20 p.m, all of us assemble at Marry Go Round which is under construction. This loving class of mine have another plan after spending time at Lotte World. We continue our 1A dates to Konkuk University and this will be on next post. If I'm not too lazy to share. HAHAHA.

Ramadhan Kareem Abroad

Salam, Hi and Anyeong.

Salam Ramadhan to all Muslim around the world. May Ramadhan this year is blessed by Allah and we hope that we are still able to meet with Ramadhan more years to come. Ramadhan, a very blessed month for all Muslim, everyone have been longing for this month including myself. The first week of Ramadhan is successfully ended and as for me, it is my first time to have my Ramadhan far from family and alone.

The first few days of Ramadhan, I had my iftar alone. Since I'm the only Muslim in the house, of course I'll be fasting and having iftar by myself. It would be great though if they want to accompany me, but heh, they didnt know much bout Ramadhan besides, I can eat more peaceful while enhancing my Korean by watching drama (I know this is bad). 

Fasting at Korea starts at 3.26 a.m and the iftar at 7.57 p.m . Pretty much bout 17 hours of fasting. Luckily the current weather is not too hot although it is summer time, but it is so thirsty. Although I didnt speak to much thorough the day, but maaaaan, thirsty gila doh. So the first sip of water after eating a Kurma is such a bless. I could drink 2Liter of water in one shot ( no, I lied). Classmates and housemates are pretty curious about Ramadhan. They knew that during Ramadhan we can't eat. But they dont know that we also dont drink during Ramadhan. I only can help them to understand a bit more about Ramadhan by explaining in a simple word. And I hope it is okay.

So far, they didnt ask me extreme questions yet and I'm thankful by that. I believe I cant answer it properly if they attack me with hard questions. But it is good that they are curious about Islam and I try my best to give a good impression about Islam. They do thinks that praying 5 times a day is tiring and plus with fasting the whole day is kind of not acceptable. I challenge them to fast with me at least for 1 day but still allowed them to drink. And they...are still thinking bout it. 
And uuuhh, they found that Dates is very interesting. Let them taste the dates and they were awed with the taste. I want to save the Dates for myself but I also want them to taste dates. Happy that they can accept the taste. Added another info about Islam in their knowledge.

And soo, since Wednesday until maybe 9th July I already found partner for my iftar. My neighbour from Kerteh is currently at Korea for work. So, Cikda invited me to have my iftar together with her. Although I'm feeling a bit shy, but I also can't help feeling happy and blessed that someone invited me for iftar. At least for about 1 week I able to have a proper and balanced meal for my iftar. The first few days of Iftar I only cooked instant foods that I brought from Malaysia (Mee Safwa, Nasi Ibrahim). Sad huh? Too lazy too cook only for one person. Nevertheless, after this will cook a proper a balance meal so that I can have energy thorough the days. Although I want to lose weight while I'm in Korea but unbalanced meal is so not okay. 

Oh uuuhh, I just found out that I'm not the only Muslimah in Kookmin University. One of my classmates is also a Muslimah. Found out when Mrs.Gyeong Jin asked who else is Muslim because it is Ramadhan. From her appearance, I didnt know she is Muslim. I knew she is from Kazakhstan but dont know she is Muslim. It feels good that I have a Muslim classmate.

Kookmin University Start!

Salam, Hi and Annyeong.

The day I've been waiting for has come!. Already in Korea since 17th June together with Mama,papa and Adik. They stayed with me for 1 week and then they off to go to Malaysia again leaving me along in this big city with less Malaysian people that I know. Nevertheless, Ms.Yoon and Yeong Jin from Inspired Step is currently taking care of me. Well, since I'm their client, they at least should do that right? hee.

The first week of class at Kookmin University ( 국민 대학교)just ended today (27 June 2014) and all I can say is I really enjoyed this class. I couldn't remember when was the last time I enjoyed being in class. I mean, I'm so every excited to go to class everyday. I did all the exercise given regardless how many it were with happy mind. Maybe because it has been my dream to study at Korea from along time ago. Though I didn't further study in Master of Degree here, only Language but I believe that I might have a bright future by taking 3rd Language. 

So,let me start with my journey in being an independent girl in foreign country. Currently staying at Janghangpyeong and it took me 1 hour to reach Kookmin University. I have to take Subway Line 5 and then transfer to Line 4 and after that took a bus from Gireum Station (기름역) to Kookmin University about 10 minutes or less. Uh,yes. Since it took 1 hour to reach Kookmin University, I woke up so early. 1 hour early before departing. After arrived school, wait another 1 hour before the class start as it start on 9 a.m and I arrived school at 8 a.m.

The first day of class, I kinda get into the wrong class. I confidently went up to the class and sit in that class with two students. The students didn't say anything so,I make my own thing (selca of course), but maybe because I'm feeling a bit anxious, double checked my name and at that time I saw lots of student gathering in front of the board and our seniors said to go to the stated class. And yes, I'm in the wrong class and I hope the two students didn't remember me at all. It was embarrassing okay. Too excited huh nabilah? ㅋㅋㅋ.

My class consist of 12 students. 1 Malaysian, 1 Japan , 1 Russian , 1 Kazakhstan and the rest are Chinese students. Eyup. There are lots of Chinese students and also Russian students. And I quite shocked with the amount of Chinese and Russian students. I really feel like in global university as I'm surrounded with Chinese, Korean and Russian students. And my 선생님 is a pretty teacher. Lee Gyeong Jin is her name. And the other class have a handsome teacher. Luckily I'm not in that class. I dont think I can focus in class. Maybe I'll purposely make myself blur in the class to get his attention (hahahaha. I'm not that naughty though).

Surprisingly, I'm the only Muslim girl in Kookmin University there. Well, there are other Saudi Arabian students and they are male students. But at least there are other Muslim there besides me. They even have their own club room and the room is so spacious. The room are made for them to have their prayers. It feel good to know that I have a room to pray. And one of the Saudi Arabian student is kind enough to show me the room they went to pray. I really appreciate it. Well at least there are other Muslim rather than alone. There are several other Malaysian students but they are Chinese and I dont think they'll say "Hi" to a Malay girl. hahaha.

Currently still in search of other Malay people here in Korea. Already found 2 Malays here which are Adik's friend, Alia and Papa's friend's son, Safwan. And uh, bumped into several Malaysian students which are Malay when on the way back to home and yeaah we exchanged smile with each other. Ok not bumped. Glimpse? but huh, anyway we saw each other and I was like a lone ranger because they walked in group. Feels pity to myself. Like a lost child in other country. And I'm hoping that I can meet other Malay this Ramadhan as Safwan asked me to go break fast at Malaysia Embassy to meet other Malaysian there. Alia also willing to invite me to follow her. Alhamdulillah because I met such generous adik2 here. 

So yeah, what a long entry this time. So looongg. Please dont puke when you read this. More to come about me living in Korea later. And that only if I'm so diligent enough to right.
